Concrete Canvas®
Flexible GCCM for Erosion Control and Weed Suppression
Concrete Canvas® T-series is used for a wide range of erosion control and weed suppression applications. Its unique construction provides high levels of flexibility and drape, ideal for complex surfaces or smaller channels. Available in a range of formats from hand-portable ‘Batched Rolls’ (for sites with limited access) to ‘Wide Rolls’ (for larger projects), there’s a product for every application.
About Concrete Canvas®
Concrete Canvas® (CC) is a flexible Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM) used for erosion control and weed suppression applications. It combines a 3D fibre matrix with a dry cementitious mix and PVC backing, which hardens on hydration creating a thin, durable, waterproof and lower-carbon alternative to traditional poured precast and sprayed concrete. CC is available in three types CCT1®, CCT2® and CCT3® which conform to GCCM specification standard ASTM D8364, types I, II and III.
In the UK, CCT2® can provide over 60% CO₂e savings versus conventional concrete solutions.

User Benefits
Rapid Installation
CC can be laid at up to 200m²/hour, 10 times faster than traditional concrete.
Easy To Use
Requires less plant, fewer personnel and no on-site mixing or measuring — Just Add Water™.
Lower Project Costs
Faster installation and reduced logistics can make CC more cost-effective than conventional methods.
Lower Carbon
Uses up to 95% less material than concrete, cutting carbon and reducing transport needs.
Real-World Applications
CC is ideal for erosion control applications where speed and durability are essential. It’s commonly used for slope protection, channel, bund and culvert lining, remediation and weed suppression. Fast to install and low maintenance, it offers a durable, lower-carbon alternative to poured precast and sprayed concrete.

FAQs
Concrete Canvas® (CC) is part of a revolutionary new class of construction materials called Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mats (GCCMs). It is a flexible, concrete filled geosynthetic which hardens on hydration to form a thin, durable, waterproof and lower carbon alternative to conventional concrete. Essentially, it’s Concrete on a Roll™.
Concrete Canvas® is unrolled into position and secured in place. The material is then hydrated. There is a 2-hour working window before setting begins, and in 24 hours the material hardens to service performance specifications.
Concrete Canvas® GCCM (CC) is typically used to replace conventional concrete for a wide range of erosion control and weed suppression applications. Typical examples include channel lining, slope protection, bund lining, remediation works, culvert lining, outfall protection, mining vent walls, gabion covering and pipe protection. Our biggest markets are the Civil Infrastructure (principally road and rail), Mining, Petrochemical and Agricultural sectors.
Concrete Canvas® is manufactured in our UK production plant using bespoke machinery designed by Concrete Canvas Ltd. A 3-dimensional synthetic fibre matrix is filled with a custom cement blend before a PVC coating is added to one side.
Concrete Canvas® is BBA certified with durability in excess of 120 years when used for erosion control applications. For advice on specific climates please contact Concrete Canvas Ltd.
