Applications
Concrete Canvas® are proud to manufacture the world’s leading GCCMs. Established for more than 20 years and trusted by clients in over 100 countries across a broad range of applications and used as an alternative to conventional concrete to provide erosion control, armouring and containment capability. Applications include canal lining, ditch lining, slope protection, bund lining, weed suppression, concrete remediation, canal lining, membrane protection, culvert lining and lagoon lining. Benefits include speed of installation, reduced carbon, seepage reduction and on-site quality control.
Concrete Canvas is a great solution as a viable alternative to below ground piped drainage for many crest drain applications. CC allows for long runs of effective crest drainage which is readily maintainable and prevents newly profiled ditches from overgrowing with vegetation, which in turn offers a cost effective solution for our Client.
The fibrous material can be latched onto by the lamprey when they are resting on their ascent of the channel and its innate flexibility provides an organic and naturalistic visual appearance, enhanced by how quickly the material has allowed mosses and in-channel plants to become established. The use of this material and this methodology at this site was a trial undertaken by our Fisheries and Project teams, but one which quickly realised positive results… and we are looking for opportunities to replicate this approach at other suitable sites.
Great first impression, we’ve not used it before but would definitely do so again. It’s easy to apply and doesn’t require any complex methods: you just need to put it in place and add water. There are so many different applications for it, I will definitely be using it on future projects.
The product was a great success, shown by us using it again on the M1 project, and I would definitely use it on further schemes where the constraints are similar. The speed at which it was installed allowed follow on activities to proceed sooner than expected and allowed work to continue during the wetter months, which may not have been possible when using traditional methods. The product has held up fine, and to date there is no issue with the product, and is still fully functional.
After a year of installation, nothing has grown within the Concrete Canvas lined areas, whereas vegetation continues to grow within the stop chipped sections of the pipe track. Concrete Canvas has proven to be the better and more cost-effective vegetation suppressor and we look forward to specifying the material wherever possible for this type of control.
We were very happy with the lagoon lining, this installation will become a reference within the Votorantim Group.
Despite challenging weather conditions, and that this was our first experience of installing CC Hydro, we were delighted with the successful outcome of this project. With our vast and varied experience of welding conventional plastic liners for landfill projects, we were comfortable with the processes involved, following similar methodologies and using similar equipment. Having experience of CC Hydro now give us another option to present to clients and we very much look forward to the next project.
