20 Years of Invention, Development and Growth
2025 marks 20 years since Concrete Canvas was founded. In that time the company has grown from a university start-up to a manufacturing powerhouse, supplying low-carbon construction products to over 100 countries worldwide. In the last 20 years the company has experienced incredible growth and 11 years after we were named in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100, the growth story continues.
2025 broke new records, with growth of >50% fuelled by sales of new products in new markets, cementing our place as the market leaders of GCCM technology. This growth is driven by the next generation of GCCM technology: our CCX product line – only three years after launch, CCX already has a global client base.
CCX is the culmination of more than 10 years development work, based on our collective experience since inventing GCCMs in 2003. This platform technology builds on our first and second generation patent families and creates a third generation of intellectual property around the CCX product and the production technology.
From the outset, CCX was conceived to address a specific market need, the lining of large water canals for irrigation and drainage, with the aim of helping to address the enormous challenges faced globally around water scarcity and flood management. Climate change is unfortunately increasing the frequency of severe weather events and news reports of severe droughts and flooding are becoming all too common. Too much water where we don’t need it, not enough where we do.
Currently, around 95% of humanities freshwater usage is for agricultural irrigation. And around 1/3 of that water transported through open canals is lost through seepage due to inadequate canal lining. Effective water management is the answer; CCX creates robust infrastructure to transport and store the water where it’s needed most; providing a fast, effective way of creating a durable canal lining solution that lasts decades, and helping to safeguard water reserves.
This is the future of Concrete Canvas, continuing to help to provide real engineering solutions to real world problems. As we enter our 3rd decade as a company, we remain true to the values that inspired the original inflatable concrete shelter for disaster relief. With projects in over 100 countries, more than 60 sales partners and 8 international offices, we will keep building for another 20 years.
