Solution

To ensure that the lagoon prevented harmful petrochemicals seeping into the ground a number of lining solutions were considered. CCH8 was chosen as the material to line the lagoon, providing both containment and hard armour protection.

Design & Installation

  • CCH8 Bulk Rolls specified
  • Lagoon excavated and graded smooth prior to deployment
  • Transverse and vertical layup
  • Perimeter edges secured in anchor trenches
  • CCH8 overlaps thermally welded using a Leister Twinny thermal welder with triple track setup
  • Thermal weld joints air channel tested for strength and permeability
  • Customised to fit around pipe penetrations and sump areas
  • 300m2 of CC5 provided erosion protection to the outer slopes
  • Hydrated using a combination of hydrant and an IBC

Summary

The installation was carried out in good weather over a period of 2 working weeks, including the excavation of the lagoon, with a total of 1,700m2 of CCH8 installed by a team of 4.
